LoRa’s measurement of distance is based on the over-the-air transmission time of the signal rather than the traditional RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication).
In contrast, localization is based on the measurement of the difference in over-the-air transmission time from multiple points (gateways) to one point (nodes). The positioning accuracy is up to 5m (assuming a range of 10km).
