Overview of fiberglass/FRP antenna
Why is a fiberglass antenna not suitable for indoor use? What environment is suitable for use?
In the construction of the walkie-talkie radio system, the omnidirectional fiberglass antenna is used as a repeater antenna. Is the gain or length of the fiberglass antenna the higher the better? What are the characteristics of the specific FRP omnidirectional antenna, can it be used as an indoor antenna?
Why fiberglass antenna is not suitable for indoor use
It is estimated that many people will notice that international brands such as Linksys or D-link generally only use 7db or 5db, and 2db antennas on their equipment, but they rarely see their 9db or higher gains on the market.
Indoor Omni-directional antennas appear. According to our general thinking, 7db antennas have fully met the requirements for indoor use. Antennas above 7db cannot give full play to their advantages due to their smaller angles. Indoor use may be counterproductive. Therefore, omnidirectional antennas above 9db must be used outdoors.
Why is it called an omnidirectional antenna, and there is also a vertical angle
The omnidirectional antenna often mentioned in the construction of a radio antenna feed system refers to an antenna with a horizontal radiation angle of 360 degrees and a vertical fan-shaped emission. The angle is generally about 6 to 15 degrees. The higher the gain, the smaller the vertical angle.
For example, The 9db antenna can achieve a radiation angle of about 14 degrees, while the fiberglass antenna can reach about 8 degrees is the limit.
At the same location, 15db antenna reception is not as good as the low gain antenna
What environment is suitable for a fiberglass antenna?
Because of the small vertical angle, it can only transmit signals at 6 to 8 degrees horizontally. Therefore, FRP antennas are widely used for wireless coverage in plain areas, wireless coverage in the same horizontal location environment, and wireless coverage in the same horizontal location environment.
On a higher position, the signal can only be transmitted to a far position, but a close or a height difference cannot be covered.
