How is the smart water meter remotely monitored?

What is a controllable remote-wired smart water meter?

Smart water meter systems are divided into the following types.

1. Wireless transmission type smart remote water meter (controllable remote wired smart water meter)

The wireless transmission type intelligent remote water meter has data collection, processing, and storage functions, and is equipped with a wireless transmission device to receive signals through a remote receiving device. This meter does not need to lay lines and line maintenance, easy to install and simple construction, but high cost.

2. Split-line intelligent remote water meter

The split-line intelligent remote water meter is the main mode adopted by my country’s current automatic meter reading system.

It consists of remote water meters, data collectors and concentrators, signal transmission lines, and other parts. Each water meter is connected to the data collector, and then the data collector is connected in parallel to the bus and the concentrator.

The intelligent remote water meter uses a mechanical water meter as the measurement base meter and is equipped with a signaling device, which transmits counting pulse or switch signals to the collector according to the rotation of the count pointer of the base meter.

The signaling device includes a reed switch, a Hall element, a photoelectric element, Mechanical contacts, etc.

Whether the sending device can accurately and reliably generate counting pulses basically determines the accuracy of the remote meter reading system.

Its advantages are that the price is relatively low, the technology is relatively mature, and the monitoring capability is better.

However, since each household needs to be connected to the collector and needs 24 hours of power supply, it needs to be initialized, and it is easy to disconnect or power off in the middle. As a result of data loss, special personnel is required to debug and maintain, and the maintenance cost is relatively high.

3. Smart card water meter

The smart card water meter comes with functions such as collection, power supply, electric valve and valve control, and smart card reading.

The advantage is that it is easy to install, no wiring is required, and it can be used to collect water before charging. The main problems are that the water company is more difficult to monitor and cannot determine the water consumption of each meter.

At the same time, it has a certain impact on the statistics of the difference between production and sales. If the valve cannot be closed accurately, the smart card water meter will lose the meaning of controlling water use.

4. Bus system intelligent remote water meter

The bus-based intelligent remote transmission system consists of a bus-based direct-reading water meter, collector, and transmission line.

Currently, there are three common types of bus system direct reading water meters, CCD camera direct reading, photoelectric direct reading, and counting direct reading.

Among them, the CCD camera direct-reading type performs remote photography on the water meter character wheel, and the data photos are sent back to the center to be processed into digital signals;

The photoelectric direct-reading type uses photoelectric devices to directly read the character wheel readings and output digital signals; the counting direct-reading type converts the data Collection, processing, storage, and other tasks are integrated to output digital signals.

The bus system’s direct-reading water meter does not need to be initialized, and it does not need to be powered at ordinary times. The installation is also more convenient, and the maintenance cost during use is low.
