What is LTE QoS EPS system?
EPS system, in order to improve the user experience, reduce the delay in the establishment of the service, the real user “always online”, the introduction of the concept of the default bearer (Default Bearer).
That is, while the user is on, the network attachment, the user establishes a fixed data rate of the default bearer, to ensure its basic business needs, the default bearer is a Non-GBR bearing.
Generally speaking, each PDN connection corresponds to a Default Bearer and an IP Address, only in the UE and PDN both support IPV4, and IPV6 dual-stack, a PDN connection may correspond to two Default Bearer and IP Address, the UE in the validity of this PDN connection will always keep this Default Bearer (is it possible for the IP address to change?).
If the UE has connections to more than one PDN, then the UE can have more than one Default EPS Bearer and IP Address.
The default bearer QoS parameters can be derived from contracted data obtained from the Attributed Subscriber Server (HSS) or these values can be changed through PCRF interaction or based on local configuration.
In order to provide services with different QoS guarantees to UEs with the same IP address, e.g. video calls, mobile TV, etc., one or more Dedicated EPS Bears need to be established between the UE and the PDN.
Other EPS bearers connected to the same PDN are called proprietary bearers, and the operator can, according to the policy defined by PCRF (Policy And Charging Resource Function)
Different data flows are mapped to the corresponding Dedicated EPS Bear, and different QoS mechanisms are applied to different EPS Bears.
The dedicated bearer can be a GBR bearer or a Non-GBR bearer. The creation or modification of a dedicated bearer can only be initiated by the network side, and the bearer QoS parameter values are always assigned by the packet core network.
An EPSBearer goes through different network elements and interfaces, including S5/S8 interface between PGW and SGW, the S1 interface between SGW and eNodeB, and the Uu interface between eNodeB and UE.
EPS Bearer will be mapped to different underlying bearers on each interface, and each network node is responsible for maintaining the identity of the underlying bearer and the binding relationship between them.
